End of paid parking in downtown Nieuw-Vennep

It will be music to the ears of many residents: as of May 1, the center of Nieuw-Vennep will no longer require payment for parking. However, paid parking will remain at the Nieuw-Vennep train station.

The intention to abolish paid parking in both Badhoevedorp and Nieuw-Vennep has existed for some time. Last year it was done in Badhoevedorp, now it is Nieuw-Vennep's turn.

"We assume freedom of movement. So we try as little steering as possible. Parking regulation only takes place where it is necessary" , said Alderman Traffic and Transportation Derk Reneman in an interview with InforMeer early this year about mobility policy. It is expected that lifting paid parking in Nieuw-Vennep will not lead to parking problems. The shopping center will become more attractive to visitors, who, after all, can now park their cars for free.

STATION

Paid parking at Nieuw-Vennep station will remain. The first nine hours are free and for the second and third day a small fee applies, but after that the counter rises sharply. This should prevent people from parking their car here and then taking the train to Schiphol Airport to go on vacation.

PARKING METERS

The parking meters will disappear from the center of Nieuw-Vennep. They will be placed at least temporarily as an extra service in a number of existing paid-parking areas: the parking lot next to the town hall, the Aprisco lot, the Marktplein (next to Febo) and the Capellalaan in Hoofddorp and at the station in Nieuw-Vennep. The vending machines will be removed here again should new areas of paid parking arise for which they are needed.
